The coolant drain hole is quite close to the end of the X-axis leadscrew.
THE LEADSCREW SEEN THROUGH THE DRAIN HOLE
A brass plug to prevent swarf falling through the hole onto the leadscrew.

The quill depth stop consists of a bent tab on a disc that rotates with the quill feed handle. The tab contacts a lug on the head casting that acts as a stop. The width of the tab and the position of the lug result in them meeting at an angle, giving contact only on the corner of the tab. If an angled flat is milled on the tab this engages properly on the lug providing a more positive stop.
